We’re excited to announce that we’ve expanded our Field of Membership in 2018! We’re growing beyond mid-Michigan. If you live, work, worship or attend school within any county in the State of Michigan’s Lower Peninsula, you are now able to join the credit union!
Expanding Online Horizons
While United Financial staff love to see our members in person, we know that banking hours don’t accommodate everyone’s needs. That’s why we will continue to expand our online offerings. As more members discover the convenience of online banking, you can be assured that we’ll not only expand our offerings but also provide premium online security.
Here are a few things you can do online:
- Open a new account
- Apply for a loan
- Apply for a mortgage
- Pay your bills
- Check your account balances
- Transfer funds
- Deposit your checks

Expanding Hours
Traditional “banker’s hours” have always been great for bankers, but understandably frustrating for everyone else. We’re the best mid-Michigan credit union in part because we understand that not everyone’s job has the same flexibility in work hours.
That’s why United Financial’s drive-thru service provides you with extended hours for banking. On weekdays, our drive-thrus are open from 7am to 7pm and on Saturday from 9am until 2pm. You can sleep in on the weekend and still get to the drive-thru before it closes!
Give Us a Call!
What do you do when you have a question? Sometimes an online FAQ page doesn’t list your specific concern. You don’t have time to stop by one of our offices in person. Now we can meet your need with our new Call Center, located at our Weiss Street office.
Our Call Center is staffed with Credit Union staff. They live right here in mid-Michigan, not half way around the world. Our friendly, knowledgeable staff will happily assist you with your banking concerns. How’s that for service? Serving the local community is another reason United Financial is the best mid-Michigan credit union.
Rest assured that your personal information always remains confidential. That’s why we suggest that you not send sensitive financial information over email. So when you aren’t able to speak with our staff in person, our call center staff is available.
What’s In-Store for April
April is National Credit Union Youth Month. United Financial proudly participates in this national promotion. The theme this year will be “The Science of Saving.” We’re sure that parents will love this program.
In addition to helping parents teach children about money, and especially of saving it, “The Science of Saving” helps our youngest members to picture the future. Kids love to speculate about the future because it’s fun!
Part of the fun is dreaming about all the possibilities. Remember when you were a kid and everyone asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” United Financial wants to inspire kids to dream big and then empower them to fund their dreams through the science of saving.
Here’s what United Financial offers our youngest members:
- Punch Card prizes when they deposit money
- Youth CD (not the music kind)
- Report Card rewards
- Saving Challenge: a chance for Junior Savers to win a prize each month
And it only takes a quarter for children 12 and under to join! No wonder United Financial is the best mid-Michigan credit union!
What’s In-Store for October
Every year we celebrate Credit Union Month throughout the month of October. If you haven’t participated in any special programs in the past, make this the year that you do. United Financial is the best mid-Michigan credit union for a reason. It’s time you learn why and spread the word.
We’ve said it before, so forgive us for repeating ourselves, but we’re proud to be a credit union! Unlike for-profit banks, non-profit credit unions are owned by their members. As a member, you have a say in how we operate, within the constraints of law.
How else are we different from a bank? Any profits we make are distributed as dividends to our members rather than redirected to shareholders. We’re here to make your money grow for you, not to make money for share holders.
Credit unions are cooperatively owned financial institutions. Together, members pool their resources for the mutual benefit of all its members. We thrive on cooperation rather than competition. Isn’t that a refreshing change from the all-too-often cutthroat tactics of Wall Street?
We believe in win-win scenarios. We don’t think that one person’s win should mean another person’s loss. That spirit of cooperation translates into membership benefits such as these:

The coldest, darkest part of the year is also a time for celebrations. Families gather around the table at Thanksgiving, however, travel expenses can quickly add up when family members are scattered across the country from coast-to-coast.
December bustles with holiday parties and gift giving. No one wants to be Scrooge. All that holiday fun takes funds. In fact, it can take high finances to end the year on a high note.
