Halloween Decor on a Budget

Halloween may look a little different this year, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get festive for the holiday! You may not want to invest a ton of money into decorations, so here are some simple and affordable ways to spruce up your home for Halloween.

Shop Local

If you haven’t already, take the time to search for a local pumpkin farm in your area! Not only will you help out the local community, but farms tend to have better pricing on pumpkins, gourds, mums, straw bales, and corn stalks. Then decorate your home inside and out with your beautiful bounty. If you want to get extra creative turn your pumpkins into Jack-O-Lanterns or paint some spooky faces on your gourds.

Milk Jug Ghost Lanterns

It’s always best when you can use what you already have! Save and clean out a few one gallon milk jugs. On the largest, flattest surface of the jug use a sharpie to make ghostly faces! Then cut a small hole on the opposite side of the jug’s “face.” This is where you can place a small battery-operated tea candles. Place on your porch or on a windowsill to create that perfect spooky atmosphere!

Flying Bats

Using black construction paper or felt, you can create flying bats throughout your house. String the bats up on ceiling fans, chandeliers, wherever! You can also string a bunch of bats together to make a festive garland for a prominent doorway in your home.

Toilet Paper Roll Mummies

It’s as easy as it sounds. Collect and store empty toilet paper rolls, then when you have enough rolls turn them into mummies! Wrap each roll in a small amount of toilet paper then add some googly eyes!
